Pat grew up in the suburbs of Dallas, Tex. He rode BMX bikes around with his buddies, occasionally stole chrome valve tops off car tires and drank Mr. Pibb by the gallon. He tried all the typical American sports growing up but was never big enough to do well in them. However he rode his bike everywhere. Pat’s dad put him on a real road bike when he was 13 years old and somewhere in the last mile of his first road bike ride he realized he wanted to be a bike racer. Pat excelled as a junior and amateur and turned pro on the ProTour with the US Postal team and has ridden with Discovery, Phonak and Garmin-Slipstream on Europe’s ProTour. He is the most experienced ProTour athlete on the team.
