Flavio was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and started mountain biking when he was six years old. At 13 he spent a year living in Minnesota where he started snowboarding and learned to speak American-accented English — with a hint of skateboarder slang thrown in. When he was 14 years old mountain bike racing became more of a serious passion for Flavio. He raced all the Mexican national cup races was two times junior national Champion. In 2009 he started road racing. Flavio’s coach – Klement Capilar – is an old friend of Steve Bauer and recommended Flavio to team SpiderTech.
