WORD FROM DIRECTEUR SPORTIF, KEVIN FIELD
The boys really put it together in Chateauroux today. It was a great team performance.
Today’s race featured several intermediate sprints on a predominantly flat course. The inter sprint competitions were spaced nicely to encourage an active and aggressive race. We wanted to factor in the breakaways in hopes of taking one of these competitions. And we also wanted to conserve Guillaume and Martin for the finish – in case of a bunch sprint.
We achieved our goals today. Svein attacked after about 130 km. During his breakaway, he won the Prix de Conseil Chateauroux. When Svein’s break was caught with 15km to go in the race, a bunch sprint seemed imminent. The rest of the team placed Martin and Guillaume for the final. Zach Bell put the guys in position. In the final kilometers, the dynamic of the race flipped the roles between Martin and Guillaume. Martin did a fantastic job in the sprint.
