TEAM SPIDERTECH AT THE 2011 AMGEN TOUR OF CALIFORNIA
Ridin’ amongst the best of the best in California
Team SpiderTech, Canada’s only pro-continental cycling team, will be taking part next week in one of its most important stage race of its 2011 calendar, the Amgen Tour of California.
For eight days, the 8-member team will be riding along some of the most rugged terrain in California, at one of the most prestigious cycling race in North America. The traditional Tour of California will see 19 teams competed for the ultimate prize, the General Classification title, along with other titles, such as the best climber, the best sprinter, the most courageous rider, and the best young rider.
Team SpiderTech powered by C10 will be headlined by Svein Tuft of Langley, British Columbia. Tuft, one of the world’s top time trial specialists, will be looking to leave his General Classification mark in stage 6, the 24-km time trial race in Solvang.
In the sprint stages, Martin Gilbert and Keven Lacombe will be riders in contention for good results. Both are proven riders that are looking for their breakthrough podium performances under the Team SpiderTech banner. Pat McCarty has also been a consistent rider at the last stage race, the Presidential Tour of Turkey.
The tour starts on Sunday May 15, and will end the following Sunday, May 22. In total, riders will travel 1 231.8 kilometres in eight days, averaging 153.97 kilometres per day.
